Miami, September 2015.-Our youngest brand ambassador, the renowned formula car driver Parker Thompson, is on a mission to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving among young students residing in Alberta, Canada. In partnership with Global Traffic Group and the local government, he recently launched the Drive to Stay Alive initiative to make the community traffic safer by encouraging those in the driver’s seat to remain alert and focused on the road at all times.
Parker Thompson takes advantage of his presentation skills and background in motorsports to connect with young audiences, in an effort of putting an end to the emerging epidemic of distracted driving-related collisions. According to official sources, distraction factors in crash reports account for nearly 30 per cent of all traffic incidents, as they are three times more likely to occur as compared when attentive drivers are behind the wheel. Through the Stay Alive Campaign, Parker Thompson promotes safe driving practices along with texting and driving accident prevention among the new generation of motorists. He is expecting to reach around 50,000 students from different 60 schools directly this year; however, to take his message beyond the classroom, he has set up a modern website and social media hubs to keep track of the progress of his initiative, and to reward loyal audiences for adopting good driving habits on provincial roads.
“We need to understand that teenagers are especially vulnerable to distractions while driving and are more likely than other age groups to be involved in crashes,” said Parker Thompson. “Each time a driver takes his focus off the road, even if just for a split second, he is putting his life and the lives of others in danger. And that is exactly why I am committed to making a difference, as crashes associated with distracted driving can be prevented.”
